Joint committee and safety delegate
A committee that exists on paper but has no meeting minutes is worth almost nothing. Inspectors check that it meets every month.
What the law requires
- Joint Hygiene and Safety Committee in companies with more than 25 workers: three regular and three alternate representatives per side, with a gender-balance rule.
- Constitution minutes filed with the Labour Inspectorate within 15 working days, monthly meetings, work programme and a two-year term.
- Occupational Health and Safety Delegate elected in assembly at workplaces with 10 to 25 people and no committee, with 8 hours of training.
- 20-hour training course for committee members, delivered by the mutual insurer.

FAQ
Common questions about this service
What if nobody wants to join the committee?
Participation is a legal duty for workers and the company must facilitate it. With a good induction and a concrete programme, committees work; our job is to make it useful rather than a burden.
Does the delegate replace the committee?
Only at workplaces with 10 to 25 people where no committee exists. Above 25 workers the committee is mandatory.
